Aroldis Chapman, the 27-year-old All-Star pitcher for Major League Baseball’s Cincinnati Reds, was accused of domestic violence on October 30 following an argument with his girlfriend. Based on police reports, Chapman allegedly choked and pushed his girlfriend against the wall and then fired eight rounds from a handgun while she was hiding outside his Miami home. Chapman admitted to firing the shots, but no arrests were made due to conflicting stories and a lack of cooperation by those involved in the investigation.

On December 7, Chapman’s attorney, Jay Reisinger, spoke with Yahoo Sports to say that his client denies the allegations and that no further comments will be made by their party.

MLB is set to further investigate the case under the league’s new policy on domestic abuse.
