A recent
article published in the New York Times
reported on a number of different kayaking mistakes that Angelika Graswald
and her missing fiancé, Vincent Viafore, made the day that Viafore
disappeared while the two were kayaking on the Hudson River. The list
of mistakes includes the fact that neither were wearing wet or dry suits
to help protect them against cold water temperatures, that Mr. Viafore
was not wearing a life jacket, and that the kayaks the two were using
were not suited to conditions on the Hudson. While police have charged
Graswald with second degree
murder
in connection to Viafore’s disappearance and have accused her of
intentionally tampering with Viafore’s kayak, her attorney, Richard
Portale, defends that what happened on the Hudson the day Viafore disappeared
