Body of missing kayaker identified

According to a recent article on nbcnewyork.com this weekend, the body of missing kayaker Vincent Viafore was recovered from the Hudson and was positively identified by medical examiners. Viafore’s fiancee, Angelika Graswald, has been charged with his murder. According to Assistant District Attorney Julie Mohl, Graswald allegedly tampered with her fiancee’s kayak and made incriminating comments to authorities. Graswald’s defense attorney, Richard Portale, importantly highlighted the fact that she is a Latvian expatriate and that a language barrier between investigators and Graswald could have caused problems. He stated that he would investigate if Graswald’s comments were voluntary, stating that he is “skeptical of the statements.” You can read more about this case by clicking here.
