Woman’s death after silicone procedure ruled a homicide

On May 30, 34-year-old Kelly Mayhew was found unresponsive after a silicone procedure in New York City. Latrice Mayhew, the victim’s mother, called 911 and tried to revive her but she did not survive.

Mayhew had the illegal procedure at a house on Dickens Street, Far Rockaway in Queens. The police said that Mayhew went into cardiac arrest during the procedure and was brought out on a stretcher. Based on reports, the woman who did the procedure escaped while Mayhew was having a cardiac arrest and has never been seen since.

Last September 30, the medical examiner’s office announced that Mayhew passed away after the silicone entered her bloodstream. The death has been ruled as a homicide. Spokeswoman Julie Bolcer announced the cause of death as “systemic silicone emboli due to cosmetic silicone injections of buttocks”.

Joan Doyle, the house owner, said that she rented the house to a co-worker but was always suspicious of the numerous women coming in and out.

A terrible tragedy like this deserves justice for Ms. Mayhew. Our lawyers at Portale Randazzo LLP send their condolences to the victim’s family and friends.
